Academic Team
Majellia Sheehan BA, RELSA T.E.F.L, DELTA (Cambridge) is the Academic Manager and one of the Directors of Cork English World. She has been working in the ELT industry since 1990. Majellia has worked in France, Spain and in Ireland. Her ELT experience ranges from teaching General, Business and Exam English classes to Pre and Post Teacher Training courses. Majellia is a highly experienced Cambridge examiner. From time to time Majellia teaches classes at Cork English World ensuring to keep in touch with our students in the classroom. She also works on in-house training for CEW teachers.
Órla Garahy Assistant Director of Studies, is a CELTA and DELTA qualified English language teacher with over twenty years teaching experience. She has taught English in Taiwan, England, Spain & Ireland to students with a wide variety of needs. Her favourite thing about teaching English is meeting so many wonderful students and helping them to achieve their goals.
Angela Keohane BA, H Dip in Ed, T.E.F.L, MA (Applied Linguistics) started working in ELT in 1985 and she has taught English in Italy, France and Ireland. Angela has taught General, Exam and Business English to a variety of levels (beginner to advanced). More recently, she has taught ESOL to non nationals working and living in Ireland who are preparing for FETAC certification. Angela grew up in London, but her family returned to Ireland when she was 12. Angela is a main tutor on our International Teacher Training Courses
Angela Killeen BA HDE CELT ALCM LLCM (TD) has worked in secondary schools in Ireland teaching English, French and Irish, and has also lived and worked in France, where she taught English to second-level students, and to students preparing for Cambridge Certificate examinations. She has travelled extensively in France and Europe. She is also a qualified Speech and Drama teacher. She has been working at CEW since 2011.
Joanna Kelly holds a BA in Economics and Asian Studies, along with a CELTA certification. With two years of experience teaching English as a foreign language, she has worked with students of all ages, though she especially enjoys working with adults. After spending six months in South Korea, Joanna returned to Ireland to continue her teaching journey. Outside the classroom, she’s passionate about language learning, cooking, and getting lost in a good film or series.
Maeve Simcox BA, Celta, has been teaching English for 10 years. She has taught in Ireland, the UK and Spain teaching adults and children of all ages and levels. She has General English and exam English (IELTS, Cambridge First, Advanced, Proficiency) in both monolingual and multilingual settings to groups of various sizes as well as online classes.
Ian Murphy, BA, TEFL, MA, PhD has taught General, Business and Exam English (IELTS, Cambridge, Trinity) to adults and children of all ages and levels in the US, Spain and Ireland. He has also lectured on film, literature and critical theory at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels. He has extensive experience as an editor and proofreader, and has published several of his own academic and journalistic essays.
Christopher Ishii, BA TESOL has taught English in various parts of the world, including California, Massachusetts and Spain. He has worked with adults and secondary school students in classroom settings and online, teaching General, Business and Exam English. He also holds a degree in music and has worked in theatre production as a composer and music director. His interests include languages, cinema, literature and Japanese culture.
Mark Aylward-Greenway, MA BA (Arts based) degrees, and CELTA – qualifying in 2015, has been teaching in various settings in the past 10 years. British by birth, then moving to Copenhagen, Zürich, and Munich, Mark has taught English in private language schools, as a one-to-one special needs teaching assistant in UK schools, adult English Tutor in classes and one to one, and in a local German community school specialising in conversation classes. Mark has also worked as an English learning guide in a private international multi-lingual Kindergarten with ages 1-6. He has also worked for the Berlitz language school. Outside the classroom, Mark has a broad range of interests including history, travel, genealogy, art, and numismatics.
José Luis Betancor Rodríguez, BA (Modern Languages), CELTA has over four years’ experience in teaching English as a foreign language to both children and adults in Ireland and in Spain. Beyond his professional role, he is passionate about language learning, music, and photography, which he integrates into his lessons to make them more dynamic and interactive for his students.ce.
Daire Conway, BA, CELTA, Dip Innovation through design Thinking is an experienced English teacher with a CELTA certification, which he obtained in 2017. Over the years, he has had the opportunity to teach in Spain, Canada, and Ireland, giving him a broad understanding of diverse classroom dynamics and student needs. Daire enjoys helping students prepare for the IELTS exam and has a passion for helping students improve their pronunciation. He loves incorporating fun and interactive games into his lessons to keep learning enjoyable and engaging, while also maintaining a strong focus on clear communication and speaking confidence.
John Gallagher, BA (Modern
(BA, CELTA) has been teaching English as a foreign language for over ten years. He has taught English in Japan, China, Germany and South Korea. He has experience teaching a range of learners from children, teenagers and adults through a variety of materials ranging from conversational English, Business English and exam preparation (TOEIC, IELTS).
Before becoming a teacher he was trained as an animator and has worked in a variety of roles throughout Ireland and Europe ranging from background and character design to editing.
He enjoys hiking, spending time with his family and watching outlandish horror movies, especially the works of Takeshi Miike.

Mireille Kingston MA M.I.A.T.I is Cork English World’s Financial Director. Mireille has been involved in accommodation & administration for over 10 years. Among her many duties, Mireille oversees the financial aspects of Cork English World. Talk to Mireille for information about paying your tuition and accommodation fees.
Paul Sheehan B.Sc.(Hons), H.Dip. TLHE, CELT holds a Science degree and a post graduate diploma in Teaching and Learning in higher education. In addition, he is qualified to teach English as a foreign language. Paul is responsible for the development and maintenance of documented quality procedures whilst also overseeing the marketing department at CEW. Paul teaches classes from time to time ensuring the utmost quality of service all the time.
Mayara Santos, who holds a BA degree and a post graduate diploma in Health & Physical Education, brings with her extensive experience in Customer Service gained from working across various sectors in Brazil, Portugal, and Ireland. Proficient in three languages, she has successfully engaged with people from diverse cultural backgrounds throughout her career. Mayara demonstrates exceptional proficiency in managing student administration and accommodation responsibilities, consistently displaying a proactive approach to providing assistance whenever needed.

Cork English World offers English classes in at least 6 levels, from Elementary (A1) to Advanced (C1), with a maximum of 15 students per class.
